River Bottom 'Booty': What appears to be an eerie coffin dredged from the depths of the Huron River (above) [this photo] is a discarded candy machine tossed into "Davy Jones' Locker." Skindivers with the City Police and Sheriff's Deputies found this among an assortment of dumped items in their efforts to raise a safe from the river bed. City Patrolman Paul L. Buntin is shown at the lower left and Deputy Lenard McDougall has his hand on the machine. On the hoist rope is Patrolman Harold Tinsey and below him is Detective Lt. Eugene L. Staudenmaier. On the bridge is Police Lt. Marvin Dann and Sheriff's Uniformed Sgt. William M. Stander. In the photo below, Buntin, center, and McDougall go over the day's booty which included the safe, a tool chest and a motor scooter.
