"The photo shows Stadium when it curved to merge with Jackson Avenue west of Maple Rd. That segment was removed when the corner was realigned -- the road no longer cuts through what became the parking lot of the Westgate Shopping Center -- but it used to, and that's why even now Zingerman's Roadhouse (formerly Bill Knapp's) is separate and apart from the shopping center. Stadium now merges into Maple Road before Maple crosses Jackson Road.

The photo looks north, and the big oval in the distance is the harness racing track of the Washtenaw County Fairgrounds -- which is now Vets Park." (Wystan Stevens)
