PRACTICE FOR DERBY: Small racers like this one driven by Tim Towner of 859 Rose Dr. coasted down Beal Ave. yesterday afternoon in preparation for Ann Arbor's Second Annual Soapbox Derby. It was a dry, hot day for the practice runs on the North Campus street that will be the derby course on July 14. Lloyd E. Fairbanks, derby director, stands next to Tim's car at the starting block. Tim's father, Richard C. Towner is at the right. Junior Chamber of Commerce President Richard Simon is at the left. The Jaycees and Jim White, Inc., are co-sponsors of the derby.
