Ruth Robinson Is Bride In Angola Ceremony
Local Girl Is Married To Wilmont Shankland

An elopement of last Wednesday has been revealed in the announcement of the marriage on that date, at Angola, Ind., of Miss Ruth Robinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Robinson of the Frisinger apartments on Washtenaw Ave., and C. Wilmont Shankland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence R. Shankland of Dexter Ave.
Mrs. Shankland attended the University and is secretary to the superintendent of schools, Otto W. Haisley. Mr. Shankland received his bachelor of science degree from Michigan State Normal college at Ypsilanti, taking graduate work later in the school of business administration here, and is a member of Delta Zeta Pi fraternity. He is employed in the purchasing department of the King-Seeley company.
Although an elopement, the wedding was attractively arranged, taking place in the garden studio of the officiating clergyman, Dr. John Humphreys, pastor of the Congregational church at Angola. Miss Ruth Steadman and Adolph Horning of Ann Arbor attended the couple as maid of honor and best man.
The bride wore a smart knitted two-piece frock of a deep aquamarine shade. The peplum blouse was fastened by a row of small matching buttons down the front on a narrow band of rust-colored grosgrain ribbon that matched the narrow leather belt. The rust color, with black and green, appeared in the clever triple feather trimming at the side of the black antelope Scotch cap. Other accessories were black.
Corsages of tea roses, sweet peas and gypsophila were worn by the bride and Miss Steadman. The latter’s tailored jacket suit of parchment crepe was supplemented by light dubonnet and black accessories. The row of buttons on the jacket and the parallel pipings of the pockets were in the dubonnet and harmonizing colors.
Mr. Shankland, who took part in the city golf championship tournament this week, being eliminated in the quarter-finals yesterday, left last night with his bride for a motor trip north. After a stop at Mackinac Island, they will drive through northern Michigan and down to Chicago, returning to live in Ann Arbor.
