Reference Head Accepts New Post In Wisconsin
Miss Helen Anderson, head of the reference department of Ann Arbor public library for 10 years, has resigned to accept a position as head librarian of the Wausau, Wis., public library. She will take over her new duties Nov. 1.
Miss Anderson came to Ann Arbor from the Springfield, Mass., city library in 1925 to attend the University. After graduation in 1929 with a bachelor of arts degree and a bachelor of arts in library science, she joined the local library staff.
During absences of Miss Frances A. Hannum, head librarian, Miss Anderson has been acting head librarian. Since 1931, she has written a weekly column, "New Library Books," for the Ann Arbor News.
Other activities of Miss Anderson have been the preparing of individual and group reading courses and the presentation of talks on library subjects before various local groups.
By continuing part-time work in the University, Miss Anderson completed requirements for a master of science degree in library science last February.
Her successor has not yet been named.
