Others Are Scheduled For Tonight And Tomorrow In Ann Arbor

Special D-day services were held in many Ann Arbor churches and other services will be conducted this afternoon, tonight and tomorrow so that the local citizenry can join in devout prayer and meditation for the success of the invasion and the safety of those serving in the Allied attack.

A minute of silence was observed throughout the city at 10 o'clock this morning after church bells, air raid sirens, whistles and the carillon hailed the Allied push into France.

Services in St. Andrew's Episcopal church began at 10 o'clock this morning when Holy Commnion was celebrated. At 11 o'clock about 50 pupils of the Jones school attended services in the church. Prayers were also said at 12:15.

The Ministerial Association of Ann Arbor has invited non-churchgoers and members of any church who desire to attend services at 7:15 tonight in St. Andrew's church.

Holy Communion services will be conducted at 7:15 tomorrow morning in St. Andrew's church, and there will be intercession services at 12:15 tomorrow afternoon.

Catholic devotions will be read at 7:30 tonight in St. Thomas and St. Mary's churches. Services were conducted at 8 o'clock this morning and at 12:30 this afternoon in St. Thomas church, while masses were held at 6:30, 7 and 8 o'clock in St. Mary's church.

Prayers were said this morning and this afternoon in Zion Lutheran church, and another service will be held at 6 o'clock tonight.

From 7:45 to 8:30 tonight in the Salvation Army temple, prayers will be said for the Allies' fighting men. Members of the organization as well as members of churches not having services at that time will be in attendance.

The First Methodist and the First Presbyterian churches will be open all day and prayer services were held at 10 o'clock this morning in the Presbyterian church.

Others Scheduled

Directed prayer services were held at noon in the Congregational church, and other services are scheduled for 3 o'clock, 4:30 and the public services of intercession at 8 o'clock tonight conducted by Rev. Leonard A. Parr, pastor.
