DEATH COMES TO MRS. MARY COLE AT AGE OF 101
Widow Of Union Army Officer Saw Nation Go Through Five Wars
Mrs. Mary E. Cole, 101 years old last Dec. 2, died at 7 o’clock last night at the home of her son, Attorney Frank C. Cole, 332 Eighth St.
Mrs. Cole was born Dec. 2, 1844, in Niagara county of New York state. She was the widow of Lt. Alanson B. Cole who served with the Michigan regiment during the Civil war. Her father and her brother also fought in this war.
Immediately after the Civil war she was married and has lived since in Washtenaw county, being a member of one of the pioneer families. Her husband died in 1917. Altogether Mrs. Cole lived through five wars. Several of her grandchildren took part in World War II.
Mrs. Cole is survived by one daughter, Dr. Carrie Classen Vick of Ann Arbor and two sons, Frank C. of Ann Arbor and Frederick Alanson of Scio Township road.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon at the Dolph funeral home, Rev. Fred Cowin officiating. Burial will be made in Washtenong Memorial park.
