SERVICE PLANNED

MEMORIAL SERVICES SET FOR HEGEMAN

Memorial services for First Lt. John H. Hegeman, former University student, will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon at Zion Lutheran church. Lt. Hegeman has been assumed dead since Feb. 16, 1944, when he was reported missing in action over Italy.

A dive bomber pilot, Lt. Hegeman participated in the North African, Sicilian and the Italian campaigns. He left the University where he was a senior journalism student, to enlist with the Royal Canadian Air Force in the spring of 1941, but was transferred to the AAF.

Surviving the Army pilot are his wife, Mrs. Christine Hegeman of 311 Thompson St., and his father, John H. Hegeman, sr., of Rochester, N. Y. Lt. Hegeman was 23 years old at the time he was reported missing.
