Policemen Appointed

Two Patrolmen Join City Police

Two new patrolmen joined the Police Department yesterday, leaving the department short only about eight men, instead of 10.

Appointed as patrolmen were Raymond Cook. 22, of 13742 North Lake Rd, Gregory, and Clayton Collins, 28. of Wild Goose Lake. Route 2, Chelsea.

Cook is a veteran of 10 months in the Navy during World War II He is married and has one daughter. Prior to his appointment as a police officer, he worked at the Wholesale Distributors Co. here.

Collins was employed by Kaiser-Frazer Corp. for four years . He is married and has one son. He is the first Negro to Join the force

Raymond Cook, 22, of Gregory (left) and Clayton Collins, 28, of Chelsea have been appointed as members of the Police Department. They are the first to join the force since a wave of resignations in early August left it short 10 men.
