Was Widow Of Coal Company Founder
Mrs. Laura J. Cornwell, 75, widow of Frank I. Cornwell, founder of the Cornwell Coal Co., died yesterday afternoon at her home, 1039 Baldwin Ave., after a long illness.
She had been an Ann Arbor resident since 1900 and for many years was active in social and church activities.
Mrs. Cornwell was born Feb. 7, 1877, in Cedar Rapids, Ia., a daughter of O. C. L. and Sarah Eliza Keller Jones.
She was married to Mr. Cornwell on Oct. 16, 1900. He preceded her in death on May 9, 1930.
Mrs. Cornwell was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John L. Davis of Ann Arbor; and two sisters, Mrs. R. A. Belding of New York City and Mrs. W. G. Peterson of Cedar Rapids, Ia.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 Friday afternoon at the Muehlig Chapel, Rev. Henry Lewis officiating. Cremation will follow. The family has asked that contributions be sent to the American Cancer Society.
