Miss Grace H. Carleton of Olivia Ave. is 90 years old today. She was to be honored at a tea this afternoon by the Sarah Caswell Angell Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution which she helped to found in 1896.
Miss Carleton was graduated from the University Law School in 1898 with the first three-year class. Her first position was deputy county treasurer of Chippewa county.
She was later appointed chief mortgage clerk in the offices of Moore and Goff, Detroit attorneys. She moved to Ann Arbor and in 1916 bought her present home on Olivia Ave.
Her father was a well-know engineer in Michigan during the early years of the state. He was superintendent of the old State Ship Canal at Sault Ste. Marie in 1855.
Mrs. Laylin K. James of Morton Ave. has baked and decorated a birthday cake. Tea was to be served by Mrs. F. T. McOmber of Fair Oaks Pkwy., Mrs. Albert J. Logan of Cambridge Rd., Mrs. H. Stanley Vaughn of Dexter and Mrs. George E. Carrothers of Wells St. The party and meeting was to be held at the home of Mrs. William M. Laird of Scottwood Ave.
