Samuel P. Stargis of 2200
Hogback Rd., Pittsfield town-
ship, a professional photograph-
er, yesterday was named
"Michigan Photographer of the
Year" by the Michigan Asso-
ciation of Professional Photo-
graphers.
Sturgis, 36, an employe, of
the Dey Studio at 332 S. State,
was presented a trophy last
night at the close of the.Asso-
ciatioa's l8th annual convention
in Saginaw.

"His award was for pictorial
excellence in photographic
print competition among some
600 Michigan portrait, commer-
cial and industrial photograph-
ers attending the three-day
meeting. ^

An Ann Arbor photographed!
for the past five years, Sturgis'
is a graduate of the Rochester
Institute of Technology.

He and his wife, Margaret,
have an 11 - year - old son,
Samuel, jr.
