The new Westerner Beef Buffet of 2333 E. Stadium Blvd. was opened to the public earlier this week in a $30,000 building built to the Westerner's specifications.
"Prime beef is our prime business," Jack E. Cochran, president of the concern, said today. He opened the original Westerner in West Dearborn four years ago.
The new restaurant has seating for 150 luncheon and dinner guests, plus two banquet rooms - the Big Ten and Michigan Rooms - with an additional capacity of 180.
While prime beef is a specialty, the restaurant's cuisine also includes standard entrees.
Cochran named Sterling W. Mobley as head chef. Mobley has held similar positions at the Cliff Bell's and Meyers Sea Food Restaurants in Detroit and Dearborn.
Sig L. Stensland is the Westerner's vice-president. He was general manager of the Stockholm Restaurant in Detroit for eight years. Stensland is also a director and a former president of the Michigan Restaurant and Caterers Association.
