Foreigners No Longer To Thanksgiving

Americans’ Thanksgiving has meaning for foreigners in Ann Arbor who were extended invitations to dinner as the result of two stories appearing in The News on behalf of the University’s International Center. Dr. and Mrs. Johan W. Eliot of 1027 Miller shared the traditional American holiday with several members of the foreign community. Dr. Eliot (far left) begins carving the turkey for (reading clockwise around the table) Asmok Bhan of India, Umesh Pant of Nepal, Wera Wunaprapa of Thailand, Dainis Bisenieks of Latvia, Vinod Sodhi of India, Hope Eliot (standing), Abhay Jain of India, Tom Eliot, Holly and Chris Eliot and (backs to camera, shown at left) Dr. Meherunnissa Jinnah of Pakistan and her mother, Mrs. Jinnah. This scene was duplicated in dozens of local homes.
