Plane Trip Reaches Singapore

SINGAPORE (AP) — Ann Pellegreno, following the air route of Amelia Earhart before she disappeared 30 years ago, landed her plane in Singapore late today.

Mrs. Pellegreno, from Saline, Mich., is expected to spend the night in Singapore before continuing her journey. The next scheduled stop is Jakarta, Indonesia.

Before leaving Calcutta Sunday, she said she had encountered no difficulty on the flight and had been averaging 130 miles an hour.

Accompanying her are Col. William Payne of McLean, Va., and Lee Koepke of Ypsilanti. Koepke owns the plane and serves as flight mechanic, and Payne acts as copilot.

William Polhemus of Ann Arbor joined the crew at Singapore to be navigator for the long over-water hops coming up.
