Drive Aimed At New Voters

An all-out drive to register young people by Friday’s voter registration deadline for the April 3 city election is being conducted this week by the Human Rights Party of Ann Arbor (HRP) and other local groups, David Fenton of HRP has announced.

Other groups involved are the University’s Student Government Council, the Rainbow People’s Party, Tribal Council, and the Ann Arbor Tenant’s Union.

Fenton said: “For those who cannot get to the city clerk’s office to register, there will be a registration table in the U-M Mason-Haven Hall lobby (Fishbowl). Also, roving registrars will visit U-M dormitories during the lunch and dinner hours, and appear at the local high schools and in various apartment buildings to register potential voters.

A 24-hour telephone number — 76-GUIDE — will provide information on who is eligible to register as well as how and where to register.
