Fifth Forum up for sale

Anyone hankering to get into the theater business -- and with $300,000 to $400,000 on his hands -- might want to look at the Fifth Forum Theater in Ann Arbor.

The 500-seat theater at 210 S. Fifth Ave. has been for sale “for about a week,” according to Judy Robinson, a Birmingham real estate agent handling the sale.

Ms. Robinson said the owners, who she declined to name, had lived in Ann Arbor and bought the theater years ago “because they just loved movies.” The owners have since moved out of Ann Arbor and have leased the theater for the past eight years, she said.

“The owners live all over the country and the theater was hard for them to take care of,” Ms. Robinson said. “They just felt it was time to let it go.”

Several companies and individuals already have expressed interest in the theater, she added.

In the meantime, however, the theater remains open and will continue to show movies.
