Gelman’s 2nd quarter revenues up

Gelman Sciences Inc. of Ann Arbor recorded higher revenues and earnings for the second quarter ended Jan. 31.

Revenues for the first six months of the fiscal year were $22.6 million, compared with $19.4 million for the same period a year earlier, a 16.6-percent increase.

The operating earnings for the six month period were $1.1 million, or 47 cents per share, compared with $801,000, or 33 cents per share for the preceding year, a 42 percent increase.

Revenues for the quarter were $10.7 million compared with $10.6 million for the prior year.

Operating earnings for the three months ended Jan. 31 were $678,000, or 28 cents per share, compared with $503,000, or 21 cents per share for the preceding year, an increase of 35 percent

Earnings per share have been adjusted for the 20-percent stock dividend, the additional shares having been paid Feb. 5, to shareholders of record Jan. 7.
