Remembering Jean Paul Slusser
The late Jean Paul Slusser's life was devoted to art.
In his 94 years, his name became synonymous with excellence in art education and criticism. He had taught painting and drawing at the University of Michigan from 1925 until his retirement in 1957.
He was first director of the University of Museum of Art, and he was The Ann Arbor News art critic for close to two decades.
But whatever hat he was wearing, Slusser always maintained a personal studio, creating paintings now in many private and public collections, including the Detroit Institute of Arts, International Business Machines buildings and the Illinois State Museum.
This page is devoted to the Slusser collection at the U-M Museum of Art.
