Margaret W. Maurer, an Ann
Arbor educator and former
co-publisher of The St. Ignace
News and The Mackinac Island

Jacob and Clara Mary (nee
Allsworth) Weber. Mrs. Maurer

ilies; Margie and John Shelton
of Pinkney, Wesley Jr. and
Mary Maurer of St. Ignace, and
Marilyn and Michael Baker
and their children, Andrea and
Jeffrey Whitt, of Dublin, OH;
her sister, Clarie McCrumb of
New Wilmington, PA; a sister-
in-law, Eleanor Brainard of
Bethany, OK; and six nieces
husband, she was preceded in
death by her parents; her first
child, who died shortly after
birth; and a brother, Robert F.
Weber. Following the birth of

kindergarten for five years and
third grade for three years at
Bums Park Elementary School.
She was named principal of
Bader Elementary School from

and also served as principal of
Alien Elementary School from
1973 until 1975. In Ann Arbor,

Women Voters. From 1959 to
1975, she and her family were
summer residents of Mackinac
Island, where they published
the community's newspaper,
The Mackinac Island Town
Crier. She retired from her
education career in 1975 at the
age of 62 when she and her
husband moved to St. Ignace
