Dia de la Familia

Join us for this annual family and Latino/a focused event!

This year’s Día de la Familia (Family Day) event features entertainment, games, crafts, food, and face painting. Health information addressing mental, physical, and social issues in the Latino/a community will also be addressed.

This event takes place during National Hispanic Heritage Month and is a partnership with the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center Community Outreach Program.

Star Wars Fest

Celebrate Star Wars Reads Month by joining us for a Star Wars Fest!

We'll have Star Wars-themed crafts, games, snacks, and fun for all!

Come in costume to make things even more spectacular!

Sewing Lab: Hemming with Rae Hoekstra

Sewing instructor Rae Hoekstra of Made by Rae will do a hemming demo and will offer pointers on how to do this successfully in your own projects. If you have something that needs hemming, feel free to bring it along.

Join us for an evening of sewing. We will have our lab's machines set up and staff will be on hand to show you the basics. You can bring a project you've been working on, or just stop by to practice your stitches. We welcome all skill levels. No prior knowledge is necessary. You are free to bring your own sewing machine and join our growing sewing community.

Frankentoys

Channel your inner Dr. Frankenstein and create your own monster companion in time for Halloween!

We'll be taking apart old stuffed animals and putting them back together using some simple hand stitching and gluing techniques. Bring your old toys and see what you can create.

Punched Tissue Paper Fans

Make beautiful paper fans to be used as party decorations or just to make your home look festive.

We will use fall colors to create these fun fans.
