Best First Aid Patrol In Southeastern Michigan: By winning the Boy Scout sectional competition at Stockbridge for first aid proficiency, the Explorer patrol of troop 12, of the Angell school, was awarded the James A. Patton trophy and they won the right to compete in the region seven finals at Chicago, April 1. Members of the patrol, which has won the Washtenaw-Livingston first aid championship for three consecutive years, are (in front, left to right): Don Riegel, Ned Bennett, Basil Dalton and Eugene Fairbanks; and (rear) Jerry Miller and Scoutmaster L. Radio Develops Long-Distance Friendship: Dr. John D. Kraus (standing), local physicist, and Rev. C. R. Stegall, American missionary in the Belgian Congo, who have communicated with each other by radio for six years over a 7,000-mile distance, met for the first time in Ann Arbor last night. Terra Firma Felt Comfortably Firm, for Donald R. Knapp, senior at the University from Santa Monica, when he landed his plane after his first solo flight at the Ann Arbor airport. Knapp was the first to "solo" among the students in the University's pilot training course. George M. Downs, his instructor, is giving him a few pointers before he goes up again.
