ORDNANCE TROOPS HONOR ANN ARBOR: When four war heroes honored the city's war production yesterday, troops from Fort Wayne, Detroit, came to aid in the celebration. In the afternoon they were put through smart drills at the courthouse after they had toured local war production plants. The heavy uniform coats were a little too warm for the day, for the soldiers were in full battle dress, even to gas masks and field helmets. But they enjoyed their visit.

Members of the male chorus join the girls in several numbers, and here the cast is assembled for the song and dance routine in "Gonna Get Gigged." Pvt. Albert Acerno, one of the authors, sings the solo part in this act. A public performance is scheduled tomorrow night.

CAN YOU BEAT THIS RECORD? Henry W. Backhaus, 558 S. Ashley St., has contributed a souvenir collection to the scrap drive his automobile license plates dating back to 1928. Mr. Backhaus decided he would rather have the license plates dropped on Japan or Germany in the form of bombs than merely nailed to a garage wall. A lot of people have saved their old tags. That was all right during peace times, but war needs scrap. How many old plates have you to give?

INSPECTING THE FIRST WINDBREAKER JERKIN FOR WOMEN IN THE BRITISH SERVICE: The group of Ann Arbor women who have been making jackets of scrap leather for British seamen has started to make the jerkins for women in home defense work and has the first of these jackets for women on display. At the home of Mrs. Charles E. Koella in the Cutting, where the group meets to work each Wednesday afternoon, this original jacket was shown yesterday. From the left above are Mrs. Koella, Mrs. John N. Stalker of Grosse Pointe Shores, and Mrs. Carl Dahlstrom of Horman Ct. Many new workers are sought to help meet the great need for these garments. All materials are supplied without cost, and instruction is given at the weekly open house which is held by Mrs. Koella for all women interested. The jackets may be seen in the windows of the Elizabeth Dillon shop, the C. J. Hutzel shops, Jacobson's, and Slater's book store, also at the Michigan League and at the Woman's Exchange in the Nickels Arcade, where the women's jacket is shown.
