The mural, which eventually will depict two city scapes – a polluted city and a clean city – is expected to be completed by the end of this week depending on the weather. The creativity is being donated by Lockard and his art class at Washtenaw Community College. Materials for the mural are being donated by WCC. Boy Scouts have planted over 700 tullip and daffodil bulbs in the park.

Kung starts with a large clump of dough and separates it by hand into many strands of noodles. He put on a demonstration for the public Tuesday. Kung will also be part of a Chinese Food Fair from noon-4 p.m. on Sunday at Dominos Farms, Lobby G. Sixteen area restaurants will participate. U-M Apartments Going Up on North Campus: Pictured is a portion of about 400 townhouse-type apartment units the University is constructing on its North Campus between the present Northwood Apartments and the Park, Davis and Co. Laboratory on Plymouth Rd. Designed for married students and younger faculty members, the units will contain 40 one-bedroom, 205 two-bedroom, and 155 three-bedroom apartments, according to John G. McKevitt, assistant to the U-M vice president for business and finance. Total cost of the project has been set at $6,400,000. Most of the units are scheduled for completion by fall.

1947 Building Coming Down: Cambridge Hall (foreground), a University Terrace Apartment building, and a portion of the apartment building next to it will be town down next month in connection with the rerouting of E. Hospital Dr. and the straightening of Terrace Dr. The buildings are scheduled to be vacated by occupants by June 15. The road work is in preparation for construction of a new 1,045-car parking structure costing $1,900,000 and other facilities at the U-M Medical Center. Terrace buildings were put up in 1947 for married students and faculty members.

Warm Welcome for Hawaiians: It was a warm welcome that the family of Phyllis Yabui, a graduating senior at Eastern Michigan University, received yesterday when they flew into Detroit from Maui, Hawaii, to be on hand for Saturday's commencement ceremonies. President Harold E. Sponberg was at the airport along with Phyllis, and about 15 girls from Goddard Hall. The girls presented Phyllis' father and grandfather with leis they had made from Michigan flowers. In exchange, Phyllis presented her roommate Ruth Schleicher (right) and Suzanne Campbell, advisor of Goddard, with a fresh pineapple straight from Hawaii. From left are Eitaro Kishi, Phyllis' grandfather; Shizue Yabui, her mother; Debbie, her sister; Shayne, her brother; and Toshio Yabui, her father. Last Christmas, the Goddard girls collected enough money to send Phyllis to Hawaii for the holidays.
