Ho-Hum! Free time was the order of the dayin the city's 30 election precincts, as is evidenced by this picture taken in the Northside School gymnasium -- voting place for the First Ward's first precinct. By 9:45 a.m. today, only one person had cast a ballot in this precinct and that ballot was by one of the election workers. A primary election to select two candidates to run for Probate Court in April and to select the Republican nominee in the Third Ward is being conducted today. Pictured are (left to right) Rosemarion Blake, Helen Waters, Lucille Fisher and John Modlin. Modlin is the only resident of the precinct and had cast the lone early ballot.

MAN FOUND MURDERED: Dell Cain, 36, of 610 S. Huron St., Ypsilanti, was found at 11:20 a.m. yesterday, dead from a knife wound inflicted by an unidentified person in Willow Village about nine hours earlier. Undersheriff Charles W. Shaw (right) and Detective Lt. Melvin C. Fuller here examine Cain's body, which was found lying beside his car in a vacant field off MacArthur Blvd. in Willow Village. Officers theorized Cain, dying from loss of blood, passed out while driving on MacArthur. The vehicle hit a large stone in the field, and the impact apparently threw the stabbing victim from the car. An Ypsilanti man is being sought for questioning in connection with the case, Fuller said.
