Relief for Golfers: As every fall golfer knows, leaves add to his links problem once the trees start to shed. But the leaves covering portions of the Municipal Golf Course leave quickly when exposed to the air currents from this blower arrangement which is used at other times for spraying jobs. Here, the blower is clearing the way along the fourth (old 13th) fairway. The Municipal Course, scene of the recent Washtenaw Open which saw Bob McCormick pick up the title held for three years by Howie Slocum, remains open for business--a fact which can be added to the list of unusual November happenings.

Workmen found a river in excavated areas at the new junior high school site between Washtenaw Ave. and Stadium Blvd. this morning. The heavy rains in the past 24 hours piled up waters about two feet deep in some portions of the site and halted construction of foundation walls. Work today was limited to pumping and ditching water from the submerged areas.

VISIT KINDERGARTEN: Mrs. Ward Parr (left) and Mrs. Herbert Sager (right) are among the mothers of pre-kindergarten children who are taking advantage of the new program for pre-kindergarten children at Bach school. In previous years, all the mothers were invited to take their pre-school children to visit the kindergarten on the same day. This year, however, mothers and their children are being invited to come one at a time or in groups of two. In this way the children are given a more natural opportunity to become acquainted with kindergarten activities. The children in the picture are Carol Jean Parr and Mrs. Sager's twin sons, Dudley (left) and Douglas (right). The dog being admired by Carol Jean is called Bambi and belongs to Miss Blanche Robison, one of the kindergarten teachers. The other kindergarten teacher is Dorothy Campbell.

When hot weather comes, there's nothing as pleasant as a cool swim. And when you can take a dip in your own back yard, the prospect is even more pleasant. That is the line of reasoning which a few years ago prompted Mrs. Donal H. Haines of 1229 Traver Rd. to have the pool pictured above built in her back yard. The screen house at the far end serves as a sitting room when insects are bad and also is used by bathers for dressing.
