Carbon monoxide fumes were detected in the building. HAPPY 10th - Students, alumni and staff of Community High celebrated the school's 10th anniversary by marching to City Hall. Mayor Lou Belcher congratulated the gathering upon its arrival Friday. The march was one of many homecoming events over the weekend, including a fine arts fair. On June 7 the school will hold its graduation ceremony at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Bruce McPherson, the former superintendent of schools who helped launch Community High in 1972, is expected to speak at the ceremony.

The capsule, a project of the school's first anthropology class, contains a yearbook, tape recordings of the jazz band and vocal groups, and a community course guide. She's a former director of the Marine Corps Women's Reserve Band and conductor of the Children's Concert at the Aspen Music Festival. The Cobblestone dancers performed. And the Burns Park Senior Center provided lemonade, cupcakes, and ice cream. The band, now in its 53rd year, has scheduled these other summer performances: this Sunday, 1 p.m., Gallup Park; Wednesday, July 13, 8 p.m., West Park; Wednesday, July 20, 7 p.m., at the Art Fair (Graceful Arch); Wednesday, July 27, 8 p.m. West Park, preceded by a Strolling Players children's play at 7; and Wednesday, Aug. 3, 8 p.m., West Park, 50th anniversary re-dedication of the bandshell.
