The Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor sponsored the trip to the restaurant for the hearing impaired class. Eleven children, aged 4 to 12, also ate pizza and played video games.

Medals For Dead Soldier. U.S. Army Col. M. Dean Schiller presents nine posthumous awards to the family of WO John D. Eddy, who was the 100th area serviceman reported killed in Vietnam combat. Ceremonies at North Hall were attended by (left to right) WO Eddy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Delvord Eddy; parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Reich, the serviceman's widow, Carol, and children, Linda, 3, and Robert, 10 months. WO Eddy received the Air Medal for heroism, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Air Medal, National Defense and Vietnam Service Medals and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. In addition, South Vietnam presented him the Military Merit Medal and Gallantry Cross With Palm. WO Eddy was killed in January when the helicopter gunship he was copiloting was struck by enemy gunfire and crashed.

Presenting the awards is Mrs. Betty Jane Wilson, coordinator of the program. Approximately 140 city children, from pre-school to high-school age, took the lessons, which began in December and concluded this week. The lessons were so popular that Mrs. Wilson, who teaches at the Fuller Ice Rink, said they will definitely be offered again next year. Interested persons should contact Mrs. Wilson.

Guthe of 845 Brookwood Pl., which was destroyed after a gas explosion set it afire, are visible between the two fire-scorched houses on the right.

Prof. and Mrs. Guthe sold their house site and final touches are now being applied to a new four-unit apartment house erected there. The Guthes moved to 1407 Ferdon Rd. after their home was destroyed.

Here is a portion of the Washtenaw Intermediate School District's administrative services building, presently under construction on grounds at the corner of Wagner and Scio Church Rds. School officials say the new 23,000-square foot facility, which will house more than 100 employees, is scheduled for completion this fall. Work was begun on the building in September of 1968. The facility will cost nearly $1 million.

ARMY SURGEON DECORATED HERE: A citation for his work in the treatment and evacuation of wounded soldiers in Korea last summer caught up with Lt. Col. John F. Harris (center) today. Here Col. Charles C. Sloane (left), presents a Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant (first oakleaf cluster) to Lt. Col. Harris while Col. Charles D. Wiegand, chairman of the U-M Department of Military Science and Tactics looks on. Col. Harris, regimental surgeon with the Ninth Infantry Regiment, Second Division, in Korea, is now studying in the University School of Public Health under an Army program. Col. Sloane, commanding officer of the Ninth Regiment, is here spending a leave at his home, 519 Onondaga St.
