This has been anniversary week at the University of Michigan, ttio Medical and Law Commencemcnts, having occurred on Wedtaeséay, and the t-eoond Junior exhibition of tho year on Wednesday evening: Thh Medical, Comjikkckmkxt. The Twelfth Annual Commencement Exercises of tho Medical Department took place in the forenoon of Wednesday, in Union School Hall. The Degree of M. Tho exercises of the Third Annual Commencement of the Law Department took place in the same hall on the afternoon of Wednesday. The address of the occasion was delivered by Aiar.nD Russkll, Esq., of Detroit and was a fine production. I3P Michigan was reprcsentcd in the Pca liidgo figlit by two infantry companies, attached to the 44th Illinois regiment, Col. NoiiLESDor.F. These compatiios are commanded by the brothers Barrett, of Coldwater and Kalamazoo, at. which places they were raisod. Their regiment was in the division of Gen. Sioet,, and of course had an opportunity to do sume flghting. We notiee that one member of the Coldwater company, D. Warner, is reported killed ; and that two, Sergeant S. L. Parker, and private U. Johnson, were slightly wounded. ZT Col. H. P. Vaxcleve, of the Second Minnesota regiment, has been appoiutcd and confirmed Brigadier-General, fur gallant conduct U the battle of Mili Creck, Ky. The General was fornaerly a resident of our city. jggT" The Lancers have bcea paid off and mustered out of service, and "ye gallant Lieut. Colonel" has retired to private hfo, or rather to the management of the republiean party of the State. This regiment has cost the govennnent $117,'290, and notliing to show fur it but a few "spear heads" and largo quatititics of military fame wen by the officers. Many of the privates have joincd other reguients. %3T Wendell Phillips was rottenegged and stoned a few days since, at Cincinnati, for avowing himself in favor of conducting the war on abolition principies, abusing Gen. McClellan, etc. Had boys, thosc Gincinnatians, botter let Wendell spcak and fanatics and fools listen to hún if they will. Gï An clcction has beun held in the Aecomao district by order of Gov. Pierrepont, and Col. Seoar again clected. His credentials have been presented to the House and rcforred to the Gommittee on clections. Tiie ultra republicana show a disposition lo keep him out in the cold. 3P The Band oí the Eighth Michigan Regiment, numberiag twenty-ono persons, has been dischargcd from service ou its own request, and has returned home. Thoy left Beaufort, S. C, the hoad quarters oí the regiment, on the lOth inst. {2jT Col. BitcniiKAD, of the First Michigan üavalry, has been appointed Cliief of Cavahy in the army of the Potomnc, and has enterad upon tho discharge of his important dutiea. - This is a compliment to Col.
