Dru use in Annófrbor is down, sfccording to Board of Education Trustee - Robert Conn. Following a report from the Drug Committee at last mght s Board of Education meeting, Trustee Conn said he knew of the decrease because of nis work with the Pólice Department at the Sunday Rock Concerts. One member of the audience askeü Trustee Conn, who is a pólice lieutenant, how he knew drug use was on the decline. Conn replied that, for one reason, the aroma of marijuane was not nearly as strong this year at the racerts than in previous years. He said also that the pólice department's drug caseload is lower. . . _.;___ In the report, Trustee Ronald Bishop recommended that the board, howeyer adopt a drug education program that would "teil it like it is" and include all educational factors. The board directed that the admimstration make a plan concerhing drug I education before the board takes final action on the committee report. Earlier this week, county commissioners threw their support behind the $1 millión drug abuse program formulated by the Community Mental Health Center and pledged to continue the financial support "that characterizes (our) present participation" in the drug abuse "cmsr. William E. M. Lands of Ann Arbor who presented the resolution supporting the plan, noted that the program is a "skeletal" plan for an overall community involvement in drug abuse proThe resolution also noted that the program can be used as a planning document to let various interested commumtv agencies know what part they can playin the drug fight. Another provisión in the resolution urged the Mental Health Center to proceed with the program and develop working agreements. The plan, which has not yet been made public, basieally calis for agencies and eovernmental units that can aid in the drug fight to seek federal grants to carry out various parts of the plan. This ïncludes treatment of drug addicts, and the provisión of supportive services such as rehabilitative, vocational and medical help. ..-
