Forty-seven students at Washtenaw Community College were recognized at the college's first commencement this afternoon. The ceremony was held on the lawn of College Hall, the main classroom building. Thirty-five persons received associate of arts degrees for completion of two-year college programs, and 12 received certificates of achievement for completion of one-year technical and industrial programs. Three degree recipients were graduated with the maximum four-point grade average. They are William J. Hoover, a busi-, ness administration student who will transfer to Eastern Michigan University; Lyn'n J. Buege, an electronics engineering student who will enter industry, and Timothy L. Luchsinger, the j only one of the three who spent I his entire two years at WCC and who will enter the University's College of Pharmacy. Luchsinger is the son of Dr. Leiand B. Luchsinger who was WCC President David H.j Ponitz' executive assistant until] Jan. 1, when he became president of the Denver Community College System. Those receiving associate degrees f rom Ann Arbor are William J. Carey, Gordon G. Gibb, A. Howard Golden, Emma Grace, John D. Gray, Hoover, Jeffrey J. Inwood, George H. Kapp, Shirley E. Koebnick, Kenneth A. Logerquist, Luchsinger, Tom Marshall, Wendell O. Mason, Russell A. Updike, and Dexter L. Worley. Graduates from Ypsilanti are Patricia A. Baldwin, Bridget J. DeFilippi, Michael G. Hyland, 'Gary M. Owen, Andrea K. Patriek and Sylvia M. Vercrysse. Others from the area are Buege from Milán; Dale K. Cochrane, Saline; William J. , Ernest, Brighton; Ned L. Heydlauff, Dexter; Charles Hicks, Whitmore Lake; Kenneth M. Reinhardt, Gregory; and Kim Swartz, Manchester. Graduates from other areas are John T. Lee, Wayne; Robert H. Norford, Westland; John Psaros, Weirton, W.Va.; Robert A. Reed, Detroit; Frederick D. Smola, Inkster; William F. Snure, Romulus; and Donn Syrett, Rogers City. The persons awarded certificates of achievement were Jane E. Brunt, Charles M. Bush, Sarah M. Gannon, Virginia Holey, Gary L. Lake, Mary L. L e s k o, Nancy A. Pollock, Almeda Rogers, Marie Simpson, Michael Spang, Norman Toureau, and Marilyn Williams. Some of these persons will con;inue at WCC to earn degrees in heir specialized fields. The graduates heard an address on "Meeting the Chalenge of Change" by Paul Malboeuf, manager of industrial elations for the General Parts División of the Ford Motor Co.
