CARPENTER SCHOOL: This school building will become the property of the Ann Arbor School District if voters in the Ann Arbor district and the Carpenter School district approve annexation proposals in the June 9 election. The new seven-classroom wing at the left was completed last August. At the right is the older six-classroom wing which was remodeled during last summer's building program.

Petition-bearers seeking signatures required to bring Ypsilanti's 15-square-mile annexation proposal to a vote this fall were stepping up activity this week as the filing deadline neared. The petitions must be turned in by Saturday in order for the issue to be placed on the November ballot.
