OPENS BASEBALL SEASON: Mayor Walter C. Sadler is shown throwing out the first ball at West Park last night as the newly-organized Industrial baseball league got under way with King-Seeley nosing out the American Broach nine, 6-5. The league will play all its games at West Park on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 5:45. The loop embraces five teams, King-Seeley, American Broach, Detroit Edison, Bell Telephone and Cook Springs.

IT WAS A LONG PUTT, BUT SHE SUNK IT: When Mrs. James Reach stepped up to putt on the ninth hole at Barton Hills in a recent ladies day tournament, The Ann Arbor News photographer promised to take her picture, providing she dropped the pellet. She canned the seven-footer and then had to do it again while her picture was being taken. Wishing they could sink those long ones, from left to right, are: Mrs. A. C. Winkler, Mrs. Robert Meanwell and Mrs. Herbert Beiseigel.

Mrs. Harold D. Smith served her second year as president of the Ann Arbor Women's City Golf association. She was one of the semi-finalists in the city tournament and won several prizes in the weekly tournaments at Huron Hills, as well as reaching the finals of the club championship.
