IN TROUBLE AT INVERNESS: Mrs. Robert Greve, club champion at the Inverness Country club at North Lake, is shown hoisting her ball out of the trap that guards the ninth green in a recent "Ladies Day" program at which women golfers from the Ann Arbor Golf and Outing club were guests. Intently watching the champion getting out of trouble are Mrs. Robert Gauss, left and Miss Josephine Lang, while two caddies in the background also appear to be interested in the shot.

ANN ARBOR CHAMPION AND HIS VICTORY SMILE -- Merlin Hahn, age 15, is shown pictured in his racer with which he annexed the title in Ann Arbor's second annual Ann Arbor News--Chevrolet Soap Box derby Saturday. He is holding the M. E. Coyle trophy presented to every city champion and is flashing a keen smile of victory. Merlin and his sturdy racer will represent Ann Arbor in the state exhibition at Detroit this Saturday and in the International All-American Derby at Akron, O., Aug. 15.

Ann Arbor pilots take their Soap Box Derby seriously. This is evidenced in the two pictures shown above taken Saturday at Ann Arbor's second annual Derby. In the top picture Stuart McDonald, 1010 Woodbridge, is shown lending Robert Moore of Dexter across the finish line in the first heat of the Class A division. In the lower picture David Vaughn of Saline in B-5 and Ted Schneider, 742 Fountain St., are shown coming off the starting ramp in their second round heat. Schneider was the winner in a close finish.
