UNIVERSITY HOLIDAY BEGINS: Santa Claus is coming to other towns than Ann Arbor, and the University students shown above, who flocked to the Michigan Central depot yesterday, will catch him in their own home towns. Some took the westbound train (facing the camera) to Chicago and points west, and the rest entrained to Detroit and points east. The three-inch-blanket of snow was hailed as a harbinger of a white Christmas.

Freshman Jean Boehlke Moves Into Stockwell Hall At The University Of Michigan, September 1960 Photographer: Doug Fulton

Published In:
Ann Arbor News, September 14, 1960

TOTE THAT LOAD: Moving from her home in Saginaw to Stockwell Dormitory at the University for nine months can mean a big shift in personal belongings, but one wonders how large that pile will grow by next June after Freshman Jean Boehlke brings back Christmas presents plus various and sundry "incidentals." Helping her make the "big shift" is Had Beatty of Toledo, O., a junior at Dartmouth College, who has come to the U-M to "make some money." We agree that he's earning it on this trip, especially since that load has to be towed up to the fourth floor. Also pictured (at far right) are Miss Boehlke's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Boehlke of Saginaw.
