Drill For Water: Charles Goff & Sons of Whitmore Lake are drilling for water on the site of the new City Hall in downtown Ann Arbor. Indications are that a well at the northeast corner of the site will produce the 200 gallons per minute that would be needed for Civil Defense emergency use. A CD center will be built in the new hall's basement.

Workmen for the F. H. Martin Co. of St. Clair Shores are busy at the site of the new $1 million reservoir/pumping station being constructed for Ann Arbor's Utilities Department on W. Liberty Road west of S. Maple Road. Jim Scott, chief engineer for the Utilities Department, says the new facility, scheduled for completion this fall, will aid in peak pumping hours for the city's west side and also for additional water for Fire Department use. The station has been under construction since last fall.
