AACHM Oral History: Diana McKnight-Morton
Diana McKnight-Morton was born in 1944 and grew up on West Kingsley Street in a racially mixed neighborhood. Her parents Robert and Adeline Thompson ran a successful carry-out restaurant, DeLong’s Bar-B-Q, on Detroit Street for 38 years. McKnight-Morton got her master’s in guidance and counseling from Eastern Michigan University and became a supervisor for Washtenaw County Employment and Training and Community Services. She has served as a member of the Washtenaw Community College Board of Trustees since 1994.

Baird of Washtenaw County on Alcoholism discuss plans for the upcoming open house at the council's new headquarters in the lower level of the United Way Building at 2301 Platt Road. The open house will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The public is invited to tour the offices and learn about the agency's services. The council's goals are to inform the public, and prevent and treat alcoholism. The council estimates there are 6,000 alcoholics and an additional 6,000 problem drinkers in Washtenaw County.
