Ann Arbor News, March 26, 1942

SCOUTS WORK FOR RED CROSS: Platt's girl scout troop claims the distinction of being the first in the county to contribute monetary aid to the cause of the Red Cross. Actual turning over of the money is scheduled for Saturday morning and the amount will be determined by the success of a benefit party which the scout troop is sponsoring in the Platt schoolhouse tomorrow night. Shown above are three members of the troop, Lorraine Austin, Mary Maury and Peggy Moore, with a quilt which they and the other scouts made and which will be offered as one of the prizes to be given away tomorrow night. Participants in tomorrow night's meeting will hear a discussion of air raid precautionary measures by Cornelius W. Tuomy, chief air raid warden for Washtenaw county. Members of the scout troop plan to further their Red Cross work by studying first aid under Red Cross supervision, beginning in the near future.
