The Michigan Eye Bank, member of the Eye Bank Association of America, was started eight years ago by the Ann Arbor Lions Club in co-operation with the U-M Medical Center. Many Lions clubs in the state now help finance the project. This sign in the new office lists the substations covering most of the Lower Peninsula. Dr. John W. Henderson of the U-M is medical director of the State Eye Bank, and John P. Paup of Ann Arbor is treasurer.

AIDED BY LIONS CLUB WORK: Randall H. Nelson of 1201 E. University Ave. (above), a doctoral student in political science at the University who was blinded by a German shell burst in World War II, is one of many sightless persons reaping benefits from a statewide program of Lions Clubs. Michigan Lions, including those from the Ann Arbor organization headed by President S. D. Casey, contribute heavily to "Leader Dog" training at Rochester, Mich. Each dog, such as Sonny, the German boxer pictured with Nelson, costs an estimated $1,200 to train for the task of guiding a blind master. The dogs are purchased from the Leader Dog League for a token payment of $250.

Three thousand gallons of cider were brought to town in a large truck, partially visible in the background. The sale, to provide funds for support of aid to the blind and visually handicapped, will begin Friday and continue through the following Friday. Various business locations will be manned at the beginning of the period. Much of the effort, however, will involve door-to-door calls.
