REAL ENOUGH TO EAT: The birthday cake which Hazel M. Keedle, childrens' librarian at the Ann Arbor Public Library, and Joan Gallup proudly present is the cake indicative of the Vacation Reading Club drive to encourage vacation reading among children. Each time a child reads and reviews a book he or she can place a candle in the cake. Joan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. Gallup, 645 Riverside Dr., is the high school art student who designed the cake.

It's A Family Affair: Andrew Bishop, 8, gets a few hints on the art of book selection for the Ann Arbor Public Library's Summer Reading Club which opens tomorrow from his sister Ellen, 10, who joined the club last year. An older brother David, 12, will be in the club's junior high school reading section, and their Sister Christine, 16, was a member from 1954 to 1959. Parents of the enthusiastic readers are Dr. and Mrs. Ronald C. Bishop, Lincoln Ave. The children are sitting beside the colorful poster which sets the theme for this year's program, "The California Gold Rush."
