Beekeeping Basics

Local beekeeper Rebecca Schumacher will teach you the basics of bees, from what goes on in the hive to the basics of caring for bees. You'll learn about the beehive, how beekeepers harvest honey, and get a chance to look at some beekeeping equipment. The presentation will wrap up with a honey tasting, so be sure to stop by this sweet event.

Keeping Backyard Animals

White Lotus Farms leads a learning session about the basics of keeping and caring for animals. We'll learn the best practices of how to raise animals, and the learning session will include appearances by their free range goats and hens.

Vermiculture & Composting

Join Advanced Master Gardener and Master Composter Jesse Raudenbush as he introduces us to the Red Wiggler composting worm (E. Fetida). We'll learn about some of their very basic needs as well as how to start a simple vermicomposting system.

Container & Beginning Gardening w/ Project Grow!

Shelley Ferguson of Project Grow will use container gardening as a way to highlight basic gardening principles. Whether you are brand new to gardening or just want to up your container game, this session will walk you through the fundamentals — healthy soil, room for roots, and keeping care requirements in mind. Have a specific garden or plant-related question? There will be time to jot down your questions to submit to Ferguson directly before the talk so that she can touch on the problems and queries that pique the audience's interest.

Play & Create the World of Your Dreams

Explore the design game Adapt! This new and exciting tool encourages, supports, and guides us through applying a holistic design process to create the world of our dreams.

Through play we ask productive and practical questions that will lead us towards increased care awareness and implementable solutions.

Explorer, designer, and educator Bridget O’Brien will guide you through this journey. She specializes in Permaculture-based regenerative land use, social structure, and self-care design workshops and coaching, and is the creative developer of the design game called Adapt.

Aesthetically Edible

This workshop will present you with a collection of beautiful and tasty plants that can be designed into your existing or future landscape plantings. We will explore the uses of these plants, aside from their beauty, while visioning together to dream up a delightful design.

Attendees are encouraged to bring photos, sketches & maps of the land they are stewarding.

Land Stewarding: A Homeowner Guide

How do you to apply food growing, composting, wildlife conservation, and other land care practices to your own place?

With information at our fingertips and advice around every corner it hard to know what the best practices are to care for the land you have. We will examine natural systems and appropriate technology to combine forces for ease of care and maximum enjoyment of the bounty on offer in your back yard.

Healing Land, Healing Self

In this current crazy late capitalist time it has almost become radical to live life centered around principles and practices of care - cares for health of self, community, and planet.

This interactive workshop will identify and build participants’ own self-care and land-care practices as we explore the vitally important work of co-healing people and planet.
