Fourth-graders in Robert Douglas' class at Pattengill School have been busy lately fashioning oversized animals out of papier-mache. Putting the finishing touches on the large turtle at the rear are (from left) Mindy Busche and Mike McAdoo. In the foreground, Frank Sanz and Karen Bilik paint a huge serpent. The animals will be given to Pattengill's kindergartners.

Wooden figures representing the "Westward Movement" in American History are displayed by four Lawton School fifth-graders and their art teacher, Elaine Kolasa (standing center). As part of an applied arts project, the children made the figures' heads, painted them, and attached them to wooden "bodies." The figures portray the students' concept of the sturdy, rugged men of America's pioneering days. The students are (from left) Marilynn Seaton, John Watt, Tim Malefyt and Sarah Crawford.

Dr. Bruce Vandermade administers some very special dental treatment to his adopted son, Gary, 6, while his adopted daughter, Laurie, 8, watches what appears to be a painless experience. Dr. Vandermade has offices at 317 S. State. The Vandermade family lives at 1807 Hanover. Both children were adopted as infants.

Baha'i Pioneers Five members of the group which formed the Ann Arbor Baha'i Assembly in 1943 attended the 25th anniversary luncheon at the YM-YWCA. They are (from left) William Parker, Mrs. Bernice Anderson, Mrs. Katherine Mills, Mrs. Martha Parker, and Harry Mills. Baha'is are continuing their anniversary celebration through May 2 and are holding two workshops with local clergymen on the theme, "Justice for All Peoples."
