Controversial Overpass Locations: This aerial view shows the two locations for a proposed bridge to carry traffic over the US-12 Expressway east of Grove Rd. in Ypsilanti township. The State Highway Department says it will construct an overpass (solid line) to connect Hull and Glenwood Aves. as soon as the Township Board approves the location. Residents of the area maintain the overpass should be built about 1,000 feet eastward and connect Harris Rd. (dotted line) across the Expressway. The large housing development at lower left is part of the Shady Knoll Subdivision.

Nearing Completion: Two white ribbons of new Ann Arbor Eastbelt paving descending from the north have nearly reached the Geddes Rd. interchange. The interchange, the bridge over the Huron River (lower portion of picture) and the section of the Eastbelt bypass north to US-23 are expected to be opened to traffic by Oct. 27, according to the Michigan State Highway Department. Just below the interchange and bridge at the lower right of this aerial photo is a portion of Hogback Rd.

Overpass Work Slowed: State Highway Department construction of two overpasses to carry US-112 (W. Michigan Ave.) traffic over the Willow Run Expressway extension has been virtually halted by a shortage of steel. In this aerial photo, looking northwest at the intersection, steel supports for the western bridge are already in place. The Pittsfield township overpasses are some 1,200 feet apart. Work on 2,800-foot approaches to the overpasses, meanwhile, is being done by the Lewis & Frisinger Co. of Ann Arbor. No decision has been announced on the fate of two motels and at least two houses in the path of the approaches.
