A Merrier Christmas: A tricycle for six-year-old David Bauer, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Bauer of 65 Westover St., made Christmas brighter for the entire family. David, stricken with polio in September, 1954, was not expected to walk again. Christmas Day, 1954, found him flat in bed. But here - a year later - he's perched on his tricycle, wearing his best suit, corset and chin brace, as well as a wide grin.

Has Personal Interest In Polio: Four-year-old Mary Louise Finkbeiner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neil W. Finkbeiner of 2303 Walters Dr., shows playmate David Bauer, 5, what she is doing toward saving for the current March of Dimes drive. David, a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Bauer of 65 Westover St., Scio township, was stricken by the disease in September. The young victim, who wears hand braces, a corset and special shoes and has a special reclining chair because he can't sit up or walk, is a University Hospital patient. Formerly an iron lung patient, he now is permitted to go home for weekends.
