This aerial photo shows the layout of the new "back nine" of the Huron Municipal Golf Course, scheduled to open for play this weekend. The new nine holes, located on 70 acres of rolling, wooded land just south of the present nine-hole course, should provide an interesting challenge to local golfers. As the yardage and par figures show, the second nine is not particularly long in distance, but the fairways are narrow and the greens craftily placed, putting a premium on accuracy and the "short" game. Alternate tees on the 12th and 16th holes will shorten them to par three's if the golfer wants to play them that way. Played from the back tees, the new nine has a par of 33. The City Park Department admits the back nine will not be in the best of condition when opened but by next year should be in good shape. The course is located on E. Huron Dr. south of the river.

"The 11th hole at the Huron Municipal Course gets the Eddie Shaffran treatment during the second round of the Ann Arbor Junior Golf Tournament. Sheffran chips his ball up on the green in expert style. He wound up firing a 72 which was one of the best rounds of the tournament."
