BOXES FOR SOLDIERS: Brig. P. C. Ellis, in charge of the Salvation Army in Ann Arbor, is seen holding one of 50 boxes filled with food, writing and toilet articles which will be sent to soldiers at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. The boxes, contents of which are estimated to approximate $5 in value, have been packed by Ann Arbor service organizations such as the W.C.T.U., Graf-O'Hara auxiliary, and Women's Relief Corps, as well as by individuals. Other boxes are in the process of being packed and will be returned to the Salvation Army for shipment. The quota of boxes to be sent during the year from Ann Arbor has been set at 1,000. Articles contained in each box range from fruit cakes, cookies, cough drops, malted milk tablets, candy, and chewing gum to tooth paste and tooth brush, shaving cream, clothes pins, needles and buttons, flashlight, mending yarn, writing tablets and pencils, shoestrings, and face and laundry soap.
