Presents are piled high around the Christmas tree at the Washtenaw County Infirmary. Twenty county organizations have joined in making the holiday season a happy one for the 85 old or ailing persons house there. Especially noticeable are three radios, two contributed by the Ann Arbor Business Girls' Club, and one by the Thrift Shop. Most of the personal presents will be opened tonight.

BASKETS FOR NEEDY: The Thrift Shop Association of Ann Arbor is making its rounds this week distributing baskets of food and toys to the area's needy families in time for Christmas. Mrs. Paul Bagrow and Mrs. Donald Hellman (left to right) help pack the many baskets at a local grocery. In addition to the many baskets, the Association also presents several families with checks. This year, Mrs. Noble J. Shawn of Nordman Rd., made fully-dressed dolls, monkeys and doll quilts for Ann Arbor's needy children for distribution through several service organizations, including the Thrift Shop. Many of these hand-made toys will be distributed along with the baskets. Organizations which the Thrift Shop Association aids include the Washtenaw County Bureau of Social Welfare, United Fund, Michigan Children's Aid Society, Family Service, Perry Nursery School, Washtenaw County Health Department and an emergency fund for all Ann Arbor schools.
