Tall Stories. The trouble with growing tomato plants two to three times taller than you are is that the crop is too high to get hold of. Mrs. Otto Yeakey, of 3241 Nordman (above), produced 2 1/2 and 3-pound tomatoes on the little bush that's nearly touching the roof beside her. She may set a record for the city, but Joseph Strahosky of Shamokin, Pa. has her beat with a higher (although not as bushy) plant measuring five yards. This with another closer to the height of Mrs. Yeakey's has produced nearly two bushels each, Strahosky says. Mrs. Yeakey's bush measures 11 feet.
