To Help Polio Patient Eat: Use of partially-paralyzed arms has been restored to polio patient Irving Kinsey, 28, of Monroe, Mich., through equipment aids. Kinsey, shown with Lawrence Czap, 33, supervisor of the adaptive equipment laboratory at the University Hospital, is using three pieces of equipment: dynamic hand splints, which enable him to lift food; a lazy susan plate with a plate guard which rotates to make food accessible, and the suspension feeders supporting his arms. Kinsey, the father of two was stricken with polio last August.
