By a vote of 61 to 37, members of the AFL carpenters local 512 voted last night to strike against the Ann Arbor General Contractors Association. Union and contractor representatives check the voting lists in the picture above while two carpenters (right) receive instructions from John D. Bagley, state labor mediator. To the left (at the table) are Armand P. Hewett of 1103 W. Madison St. (back to camera), William Brown of Dexter, and William E. Bowline of Route 6, Ann Arbor.

HIGH SCHOOL BOYS WILL BUILD HOUSE HERE: Pictured is the excavation for the foundation of a house to be built from the ground up by Ann Arbor High school students, under the supervision of John Stueckeman, president of Washtenaw Building Trades Council. The site is at 700 Mt. Pleasant Pl. Students will be paid by the hour and also will receive course credits for their work on the project. Arrangements were made by representatives of Carpenters Local 512 in co-operation with the Ann Arbor High school administration.

THE HOUSE BUILT BY BOYS: This new house, built by Ann Arbor High school boys at 803 Mt. Pleasant Ave. as part of an apprentice program sponsored by the schools and the Carpenter's Local 512 (AFL) will be open for public inspection Saturday afternoon and Sunday. The house will be sold at its appraised price of $13,000 to the person whose name is drawn from among all those who are interested in purchasing the dwelling. Prospective buyers are to file their names at the offices of the Ann Arbor Federal Savings and Loan Association at 116 N. Fourth Ave.
